The battle of the mind

There is a reason why the apostle Paul instructs us in Ephesians 6:17 to take the helmet of salvation. The helmet is protection for the soldier going into battle so that he keeps his head safe in combat. In the same way, if our thought life is not where it needs to be, then Satan can and will attack our minds with his fiery darts. The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 the things that we are to be thinking about:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Our thought life matters. What you and I think about on a day to day basis determines how we respond with our actions. It can be a tremendous challenge especially right now as we are dealing with this corona virus to have our minds on things that are excellent and praiseworthy. We are to rely on the Lord in this matter as in all other things to help us with our thought lives. Paul was someone who knew all about hardships and trying times, but he stayed the course and kept his mind on the Lord.

That is what we are to do as we face this terrible pandemic. We are to do our best each day to focus our minds on the Lord because if you think about it God is all the things that Paul tells us to think about in Philippians 4:8. God is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and certainly worthy of our praise. Think about God and who He is. What an awesome Savior we serve!

I hope that you all have a blessed day. Love you guys.
