Do not just listen

It is not enough to simply believe and accept what the Bible says. We must also take action. The Bible tells me to trust in the Lord with all my heart but when a crisis comes and I am not trusting in the Lord, I am not doing what the Bible says. I am merely just listening to the Word and deceiving myself. I must do what the Word says. I must act.

James 1:22-25 says:

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues in it - not forgetting what they have heard but doing it - they will be blessed in what they do.”

There you have it. It is crystal clear right from the Scriptures. We are not to merely listen to the Word of God, but we are to do what it says. Tell me, what good is it to simply listen to what Jesus has instructed us to do and then proceed to not do it? It makes no sense does it? It is an exercise in futility.

It is not enough to simply believe what the Bible says. We must act on what the Bible says. Take action and live out your faith! Do not be a hearer only, but also a doer! Like the dog in the picture above, act and give it all you got!

I love you guys. Have a blessed day!
