Simple Obedience

We as human beings are the only part of God’s creation that does not do what He has asked us to do. Think about it. God tells the Sun to rise each day, and it rises. God tells the birds to fly and the fish to swim, and they do. God tells the waves of the ocean to come ashore but come no further, and they don’t. God tells the winds to blow and they blow. Yet, when God tells us to go, we say no. God tells us to be still, but we move. God says move, but we choose to remain still. Now, let me be clear. We do not always disobey the Lord, but at times we still do, and we should not. We are to simply trust and obey.

When you and I wake up each day, we always have a choice whether we are going to obey the Lord or disobey Him. Simple obedience is simply trusting God without question and always knowing that He always has our best interests at heart. We might not always want to do what God is telling us to do, but we are to follow through out of love and obedience to Him even when we do not understand or like what He is doing and where He is leading.

Deuteronomy 11:1 says:

“Love the Lord your God and keep His requirements, His decrees, His laws and His commands always.”

We show our love for Him when we obey Him. We obey Him because we love Him. Instead of fighting Him tooth and nail every step of the way, let’s choose instead to daily submit to Him and be ready to willingly obey. Pride breeds disobedience, and disobedience breeds pride, they go hand in hand. Do not be a stubborn sheep who does not obey the Shepherd. Start obeying and start trusting!

May we exercise humility and sweetly surrender to our Savior who knows what is best for us. I love you all! God bless.
