A port in the storm

Matthew 8:23-27 says:

“And when He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but He was asleep. And they went and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey Him?”.

Whether you are a Christian or not, the storms of life are going to come. Trials in life are a reality no matter what because we live in a fallen world tainted by sin. My friends the question is not if we will go through the storms of life, but when we go through those storms, who or what is our port in the midst of the storms? Jesus Christ is the One who we are to look to and count on in the midst of every storm. He has not abandoned you and is there to grab your hand and see to it that you do not drown. He will never leave you or forsake you.

So, with that being said, who or what do you rely on as your port in the storm? Is it your money? Is it your health? Is it your spouse? If it is anything or anyone other than the Lord Jesus Christ, folks that port is eventually not going to last. Money comes and goes, our health can come and go, people including your spouse can and will let you down from time to time because they are human. Look to God.

It has been said that you can always be sure to find yourself in one of three scenarios. One, you are right in the middle of a storm. Two, you just came out of one. Three, you are about to go into one. No matter where you find yourself right now, take heart and know that Jesus Christ loves you and is there for you.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and God bless you!
